Why am I asked to use BankID on websites where I haven’t seen it before?

Several websites now offer xID as a simple and secure alternative to logging in with a username and password. When you try to use xID to log in to a website, you will be asked to use BankID if we do not recognise your xID. You will also be asked to use BankID if you haven’t created an xID before, or if you want to use xID on a new device.
