Why is xID better than ‘remember me’ functions?
When you agree to be remembered on a website to gain direct access next time, a cookie is placed in your browser that recognises you when you next visit the site. If someone were to get hold of this cookie, they can pretend to be you and gain access to the websites that remember you. xID has several security mechanisms that are triggered if anyone tries to copy or steal this cookie. In other words, xID is as simple as ‘remember me’ functions, but more secure.
